What is your background?
I graduated in 1995 with a B.Sc in Economics; this was followed by an M.Sc in the same field in 2006. I started my banking career in 1996 and have over the years, worked in functions ranging from Branch Operations, to Corporate Strategy, to Electronic Banking.
What does your current role entail?
I am currently part of the Retail Banking Group, based in head office; the group interfaces with the bank’s branches, and assists the relationship managers in managing the individual, as well as small business customers. Specifically, my function as Head – Electronic Channels, revolves around setting the pace for the bank’s card and electronic channel products, with the main aim of driving the transition to electronic channels, as opposed to in-branch transactions.
What do you like about your job?
The fact that the field of electronic banking is such a rapidly changing one that entails diverse functions (Risk Management, Technology, Relationship Management etc), means that I have to always be innovative and in tune with the market; the best part of it all is that I interface with virtually every sphere of the bank, meeting great and intelligent people from whom there is always so much to learn.
